May a Better World Exist?
In the National Geographic article, “In Search of the Afghan Girl”, the author’s conclusion is that this picture of Sharbat Gula taken in 1984 helped to raise the awareness around the world for the many people in Gula’s situation. She did not know about the positive repercussion that her picture had at that time. Although she, personally, has not demonstrated any interest in her popularity, she demonstrated satisfaction in knowing she and her nation are seen as an example of resistance. Almost twenty years later, McCurry had, once again, the opportunity to take a picture of Sharbat Gula. For the second time, her image and her life touched millions of people’s heart, which made them act in favor of a cause so relevant: look forward to a better perspective in life for all Afghan women (Newman, 2002).
I particularly think that Sharbat Gula’s picture became famous because of the expression of her eyes when she was photographed. Gula’s stare may be interpreted in many ways. She might be scared, sad or even angry, but the fact is that everything in her face impacted all the world. Nobody exactly knows what was happening in the surroundings in the moment that she was being photographed. The circumstances are unknown for many people, but Gula’s existence is not unknown anymore. All her sufferance could be observed again in her second photograph, taken one more time by Steve McCurry. Her second image should be seen as a way to reinforce that even after 20 years, those people still live in an environment of poverty, without the most basic resources to live with dignity and this still happens because of some people’s radical thoughts. Some gained too much money with Gula’s picture, but she still remains in the same condition of life; she tries to survive every single day. People say she represents thousands of refugees around the world. I would like to add that she is also a symbol of the conflict existent among the Afghans. Gula is just one in the middle of millions who was uncovered and too little was made for her. Therefore, I consider her, as well as all the refugees, examples of bravery, since they are surviving each day of war in their nations. In my point of view, the only things that Sharbat Gula knew in her entire life were war and poverty. Sharbat Gula’s face, and not only her eyes, synthesized the Afghans’ history.

Justice eyes
This photograph is ever new, no matter how many times you and I have seen it. The image of the young Afghan refugee girl with green eyes a captive expression, and wearing out her garb, became important in the West there is a huge conflict between the of the same people country. However, photography like this also makes people who may not otherwise be interested in a foreign war sit up and begin to think about this girl. We know that there are other girls just like her out there that have the same. The pain in her beautiful eyes makes peoples realize how we should stop and help them. “A picture is worth a thousand words.” That is the old slogan which we know and love. I think goal is the to produce direct, truthful and real images that tell the story of those who have no voice. (Kathy Newman, April 2002)
I agree with Steve McCurry when he describes horrible this poor person’s life has been. How she has lived in poverty and has never known a happy day in her life. Her husband lives in a different city and works for little money each day. Many people all over the world have similar situations, with a salary that is not enough for their families. It is clear that she did not have idea that her face had become a symbol for the pain of Afghan women. Although her dramatic sad eyes are display a confrontation with her culture and ours. The message that it is necessary to release children and women from slavery during war is one reason why we should use the stories and photos of such women to advocate for political action.

Eyes to Asking Help.
Sharbat Gula became a symbol of people in refuge camp because all world knew through her picture the truth about children there was subhuman. But I wonder, Why Gula touch many hearts? Just for her green eyes? I think this was essential reason for that she became very famous, because there were many children that like Gula, were in the same situation but only this girl captivated the attention of McCurry and he got a picture from her. Another question is, Why McCurry took a lot of time for came back to seek this woman? The principal reason was that he looked that this picture was very successful around the world and this moved him to back the place where he got a picture in 1984 and met this girl. I don’t see other reason because in the first time, when he took this picture, he never knew her name and her story, only he knew about her life in the second meeting almost twenty years later. (Cathy Newman, April 2,002)
In my opinion, this reporter is very important for all us, because we can know the reality of refuge people, although we can help these people through Organizations of charities that let some help to this people, especially children who are suffering this situation right now. Gula is just a symbol from many refugees that need help from all of us. McCurry, through his reporter, show us the truth image of war that makes many children unhappy because they don’t have enough to live worthily. Gula’s eyes represent many beautiful lives that in silence are asking for help and they need that somebody speaks for them.

Snow Leopard
Many people hunt Snow Leopard. In Center Asia, many poachers have killed Snow Leopard for fur and their body parts, which are worth a wealth on the black mark, some cattle breeders also, have killed Snow Leopard because they prey them a domestic animals. If people continue to hunt Snow Leopard, which will be extinction, say some conservationists because these cats usually play at night, people protect no easily to Snow Leopard. Many conservationists convince poachers who don’t hear because Snow Leopards’ fur and body parts are worth a fortune on black mark. Now, some people made Snow Leopard’s homeland because protect Snow Leopard and Projects like the homestays program in India and SLE’s (Snow Leopard Enterprises) business in Mongolia are doing well for Snow Leopard. (Douglas H. Chadwick, 2008)
In my opinion, I agree an author’s opinion what is good opinion. We have to protect rarity animals because many people destroy nature for industrial development so animals can live a place where disappear little by little, and we do not know exactly how many rare varieties exist in the wild because the species very difficult to study and count. Naturally, we should take care of rarity, yet it’s not easily but we should not give up because many animals were taken away place, food, and life by people. And a powerful countries have to protect rarity animals, for example, the Convention on International trade in Endangered Species (CITES) limits trade in threatened plants and animals; however, some People are taken damage by some rarity animals, for example, some rarity carnivores prey a domestic animals but we have to care rarity animals but if you can’t do it, you should find other ways.

Sharbat Gula
In the reading passage, the author talked about a story of an Afghan woman whose pictures are popular worldwide. However, she has never had an idea that her pictures are so popular and have influenced people in or out of her country that much. In the author’s point of view, the pictures and the story of the girl have successfully grasped many people’ attention and provoked them to help those who in need since the author noticed that after those pictures were published, people all around the world started to make actions on assist people in Afghan and really made Afghan get better situation. (Cathy Newman, April 2002)
I agree with the author’s idea that the girl’s pictures really made a lot of change of the way people treat those who are living in difficult lives. First, the eyes of the girl in the picture express two feelings to me, fear and strength. I can see even if she was scared by all the tragedy happened to her, she would not be defeated; instead, she had courage to fight with their enemy and try to improve the living quality of people of her country. The spirit of the girl is so impressed that everyone who saw the pictures cannot forget her face. Also, When I saw those photos, an idea just pumped out in my mind which was I am going to cherish what I had and do my best to help others who are in bad situations. Moreover, I believe that the emotion in the pictures has conveyed to people worldwide; therefore, it makes so many people start to do mercies to people whose life are less lucky than them.
